Masthead – my magazine mast head is ‘underground attacks’ this links to my genre and its letting the audience know we’ve got something to offer to the public and the word ‘attacks’ is informing the audience that we will be releasing a new album that will be better than the rest of our album and hopefully it will touch the audience. The colour and style of the mast head is modern and it draws the audience’s attention.
The genre of my magazine is grime and I decided this after some research and survey from my friends and peers in the class. People wanted to see what I could offer and something new and different will amaze my audience. The style of my masthead and the other writing on the magazine is a taste of what I have to offer. The masthead and genre of my magazine is related with violence, sexual and over powering.
My magazine represents age in many ways; my clothes show that I have authority, power and the fact that I’m young. My style of language in my magazine is modern. In my magazine there’s a picture where I am on my phone, the use of technology also makes it look modern and young. The use of picture editing also makes my magazine look young and modern. The background of my magazine and the use of colour in my magazine also represent age.
In my media product (magazine) I have used conventions of a read media product for example I have got my own style and layout. I have also used my own pictures, titles and phases in my magazine.
My magazine has all the codes and conventions of a regular magazine; I have used 3 house colours, black, white and red to represent masculinity and the genre GRIME. I have a masthead at the top left and have use a CU shot to draw the audience in. with the main image I have used a larger cover line to suggest the main article is about me and I have made it talk to the audience. I have also added things a real music magazine has such as a barcode and price/date.

EQ2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My magazine represents young men, for example I have a picture of me on my phone and another picture of me where I my hair is spiked with gel on, this shows my magazine is aimed at young people who go out, have fun and socialise, and the cover focuses on a young Asian male (me) which makes it clears that people of my age, gender and ethnicity may enjoy its music. The age group of my magazine would be 15+ since people from this age group usually go out, socialise and plan trips etc. This age group (15+) are usually independent. But if younger age groups would like to buy the magazine, they might as well, because everyone listens to music, since music is universal, (everyone listens to It.) any ethnicity group could purchase my magazine.
(Nothing changed on this article; do I need to add anything?)
EQ3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My magazine is similar in terms of looks, design and background compared to other magazines like ndubz, skepta and Eminem.
My magazine would be distributed by IPC media as they distribute music magazines and are able to do this nationally so it will go all over the UK.

I had a look at other magazines before making my magazine so I got an idea, basic background knowledge how my magazine should be looking.
These are the magazines I had a look at:
I looked at other magazines as well, those are on another word document, and are annotated as well.

EQ4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my product will have some disposable income for luxuries like magazines and the will also enjoy reading about new stars. They will definitely like Grime music and maybe they will also enjoy rap or RnB as these genres have some influence on grime music.

My audience would be people that are into music, and that’s the younger generation for the older generation would be into older types of music and would be busy in their own lived anyway. My magazine contains all sorts of genre’s this means my magazine will be appropriate for all ages and gender. People may follow the clothes people wear in this magazine since that would be considered as fashion.

Gender - I have tried to make my magazine appeal unisex and diverse however the use of masculine objects and picture content for example the clothes, colour and pictures of me makes it appeal towards a male audience.
Age - 13 and over.
Social Class - From Grade E-C. I believe that my magazine would be irrelevant to grades A-B as they would not comprehend some of my content.
EQ 5: How did you attract your target audience?
My audience will be attracted by the masthead as this will stand out on the shelf and the dark colours will attract a more male audience. Colours black and red suggest danger. These are good colours used in my magazine because the colours will be attracting my audience. So, my audience were attracted by setting certain form and convention. I took modern pictures of me on the phone and wore colourful clothes to attract my audience. These forms of convention attracted my audience; they know that my magazine has to be read.
The main image will make my audience curious as they will want to know who I am and what I have to offer in the grime scene.
My magazine will be sold reasonably cheap; I know people will buy my magazine because the various cover lines suggest the magazine will give my audience a lot of information.
I have used my own pictures in this magazine and this shows my magazine is about me and grime.
My Audience will love the magazine because it has latest stories, personal information and gossip about famous celebrities and music singers, especially people involved in the grime world.

Puff- Some of the exaggerated news flash statements I have made are located on the left third which misleads the readers into thinking one thing but reading another. The puff should always bombard the reader with exaggerated captions.
Cover lines- this attracts audience and entertains them too.
Central Image-The central image ties in the with the main cover line. Main colour themes are linked to the central image.
Contents Page –The contents page includes
Websites/Social Networking links- I have included some links of the artist such as where to download his mix tape/album and how to keep up to date with his recent happenings using facebook. This is relevant to my audience age, as most 13+ use social networking sites.
DPS- My DPS is linked to the front page and the words and slang I have used is applicable to my audience. The colours I used are very bold and the image is a rebellious pose with ties in with my Physiographic variables.
Price- After researching price most mainstream magazines range from £1.50-5. I have decided to range my magazine at £1.00 as it is focused at the social class E-C and will attract a wide audience since my magazine is cheaper than the rest of the magazine out there.
EQ6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
From constructing this product I have used and learnt to use Microsoft desktop publisher to make my product, I had never used it before, now I’ve used it I’ve I learnt many shortcuts and ways to attract my audience, for example I edited and added effect to my photos and put them into my media product. The effects helped to create impressions of motion in pictures. By using a wide range of fonts & sizes it helped to distinct the purpose for each heading and font.
I used a camera to take pictures. When taking pictures I learnt the different ways to take pictures, for example zooming in, cutting, changing the colour and adding effects to the pictures. Panasonic SDR S26 and then uploaded them to the computer via a 4GB SD Card.
I also used adobe Photoshop, another program I had never used before. This program allowed me to have control over my pictures and to change and edit pictures to control what my audience see and how they see me, this creates impression and gives me control.
I found that it takes time to use Photoshop as I started on publisher but the pictures looked grainy so I used the filters to change some of the pictures to black and white and to use a pixel effect.
I used Photoshop to edit my pictures, at first it was really complicated but I eventually got used to it.
It was great learning to use different software’s for this piece of coursework. I used Microsoft word, blogger, Photoshop, desktop publisher and camera.

My preliminary task was a school magazine and contents page. Since that my music magazine has shown I have more knowledge about the layout and I have also taken original photos to match the genre.
From the start I created a school magazine which I pretty much was interested in and loved it, apparently we had to change it all and this got me upset this was because I made lots of drawings and did lots of planning for my magazine. I got some pictures from the net but was refused to use it on my magazine since they had to be original and this stressed me out. Due to the short amount of time I had left, I had to use my friends pictures but he only had one picture and that was being used throughout my magazine, I used my friends pictures because I didn’t have pictures of myself. Since we were sort in time and I only had one picture of a friend, my teacher decided to take a number of pictures of me for my coursework. Pictures were taken of me in different poses. I had different pictures in different pages of the magazine of myself... I wasn’t allowed to use pictures of the net because pictures had to be original. I was happy with my final magazine because my teacher had helped me with taking pictures and ideas, the fact that I used my own pictures in my magazine made it feel more unique and personal.
I had to make huge changes now and again on my magazine, from a school magazine to music magazine but I am happy with my overall magazine.

I am glad with the progress I made throughout the tasks. I am happy with what my magazine has to offer, who it’s offering it to and he content produced. I had to change my magazine from a ‘school magazine’ to a ‘music magazine’ which I wasn’t happy about but it was challenging and fun. I had to take more pictures then I lost my camera at school, so I had to retake pictures, crop, dress up and edit etc.
